My Story

My path to clinical psychology came about after a mid-life career change in my mid-forties. My first career was as a Medical Technologist specializing in Microbiology. I had picked this field because I had thought of it as a “helping profession” but the reality was that I was often stuck in a laboratory with very little actual patient contact. While I loved the work itself, I felt more and more “unsettled” and I knew that something was missing.

After much soul searching, aided by my own therapy, I decided to go back to school to get a Master’s degree in Counseling. Upon completing that degree, I opened my first private practice in Charleston, SC for a number of years. Once my marriage ended in 1990, I decided to return to school for a doctoral degree in 1992. After school, internship, and completing my dissertation, I returned to Charleston and opened my second private practice. I lived and worked in Charleston until 2017 when I decided to move to the PNW to be closer to family.

I am a Washington State licensed clinical psychologist with over 30 years of experience working in outpatient settings in both hospital day treatment programs and private practice. I provide individual therapy for an adult population. I am deeply committed to working collaboratively with you to help you achieve increased self awareness and an improved quality of life.
